Mallory Noe-Payne is a freelance reporter and producer based in Richmond, Virginia. Although she's a native Virginian, she's most recently worked for public radio in Boston. There, she helped produce stories about higher education, including a nationally-airing series on the German university system. In addition to working for WGBH in Boston, she's worked at WAMU in Washington D.C. She graduated from Virginia Tech with degrees in Journalism and Political Science.

I’m Sylvia, a Lafayette native currently attending the University of Missouri in Columbia, where I’m studying documentary journalism. I grew up listening to WBAA and as a journalist-in-training, I consistently listen to NPR both at home and at school. I’m thrilled to be interning this summer and learning the ropes of public radio — coordinating the weekly newsletter, working in audio post production, and more. Before working at WBAA, I was an on-air announcer for 4 years at WJEF, student-run radio from Jefferson High School, and currently KCOU, the radio branch of student-run media at Mizzou. Being an intern at a local news source has only reaffirmed my beliefs in the importance of journalism at all levels and I am truly excited to be a part of it! When I’m not engaged in journalistic pursuits, I work as a barista at Java Roaster and enjoy spending time outdoors with my friends, family, and my dog.
