Fountain-Warren County Health Dept. Announces Third COVID-19 Death

Fountain-Warren County Health Department

The Fountain-Warren County Health Department announced a Fountain County resident with a confirmed case of COVID-19 died Wednesday.

This is the third death from the novel coronavirus announced by the health department this week; two Warren County residents with a COVID-19 diagnosis died Monday.

The Fountain County resident was a male over the age of 60 who had been hospitalized with COVID-19 at a regional hospital.

“We implore individuals in our community to take action to help slow the spread of this virus,” the health department said in a statement. “This disease impacts us all no matter where you live.”

As of Wednesday morning, the Indiana State Department of Health had reported two confirmed cases in Warren County and one in Fountain County. In bordering counties, one case was reported in Benton County, one in Vermillion County, and 18 in Tippecanoe County

In an additional statement released Wednesday afternoon, the Fountain-Warren County Health Department said Fountain County had two confirmed COVID-19 cases and one resulting death, while Warren County had three confirmed COVID-19 cases and two deaths.

The statement also addressed the gaps in the release of information from the local health department and the Indiana State Department of Health.

“To avoid confusion, our department will no longer be separately updating case counts or death counts for COVID-19,” the department said.
