"Fighting Hunger Together" campaign could mean $1M for Food Finders Food Bank

Food banks across the country are vying for $1 million. The money comes from Wal-Mart’s “Fighting Hunger Together” program.

It will give the grand prize to one of the 200 communities with the highest unemployment in the country. Food Finders Food Bank is in the running thanks to Lafayette and Kokomo being in the competition.

Development Director Kier Crites says if the money comes here, it could do a lot of good.  She says with the agency's buying power, $1 million means 3 million meals.

The program asks community members to vote on Facebook before April 30th, and the area with the most votes will receive the money.  Twenty runner-up areas will receive $50,000.
