Faith West project goes up in West Lafayette

KJG Architecture

Seven months after breaking ground on the project, construction of Faith West is on schedule. The mixed-use complex on Northwestern Avenue, north of Lindberg Road, in West Lafayette includes apartments, a daycare, fitness center, restaurant and community space.

Faith Ministries Senior Pastor Steve Viars says in addition to the pace of work, everything is on budget.

“It’s all dried in now and they’re hanging drywall on the second floor of the facility. They’re making tremendous progress. We’re really pleased with how it’s all come together.”

The 93,000 square foot building has a price tag of $12 million. Viars says roughly 80 of the 120 bedrooms are leased already. He says parts of Faith West could open in July with everything available in August.

He thinks the most important aspect of the development is it’s a reflection of what the neighbors wanted.

“We designed that facility together. So, now when you walk in and you look at the childcare spaces and say so-and-so asked for us to do that.”

The property has a separate lot at the corner of Northwestern Avenue and Windsor Drive, which Viars says is being purchased by a developer.

“We’re a few weeks away from being able to announce publicly who is going to be purchasing and developing that site,” he says. “I think everyone is going to be very pleased by what’s going to go there. We think it’s going to fit very well with what we’re trying to do at Faith West. We think it’s going to be a great addition to the neighborhood.”

In addition to the construction project, the city of West Lafayette and Indiana Department of Transportation are doing road and trail work along Northwestern Avenue south of Yeager Road.
