Lafayette area letter carriers will be delivering more than the mail this weekend.
They will be collecting food that will eventually be distributed to families in need through Food Finders Food bank.
Executive Director Katy Bunder says the effort comes at an important time because many kids who receive free or reduced breakfast and lunch at school will be home or the summer.
She says 22% of children in Tippecanoe County are food insecure.
Bunder says the goal for this year’s Letter Carriers Food Drive is 70,000 lbs.
Non-perishable food should be left by your mailbox for pick-up this Saturday.
