Tippecanoe County sheriff urges caution, limited travel

The Tippecanoe County Sheriff is encouraging residents to stay off the roads as much as possible today.

Tracy Brown says there is still a lot of work to do to clear debris from roads and repair downed power lines.

He says residents should assume all downed power lines are live and stay away from them.

Brown is encouraging residents to stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary.

He says people traveling around to survey damage risk getting in the way of emergency crews trying to do their jobs.

Brown says despite significant damage to homes, schools,  and businesses in the area, he knows of just one injury that required transportation to the hospital.

No deaths have been reported.
