More people are expected to hit the road this Memorial Day weekend, compared to last year.

Triple-A Hoosier Motor Club spokesperson Greg Seiter says they expect more travelers this weekend than they've seen in the past nine years.

That includes nearly 34-million who will travel by car.

Seiter says the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas is expected to be $3.63, which is about the same as last year.

He says the number of people traveling by airplane is also up from 2.4-million last year to 2.6-million this holiday weekend.

Seiter says airfare is up 6% over last year, bookings for mid-range hotels have increased by 2%, and car rentals are up by 1%.
