6:00 a.m. Update:

Interstate 65 southbound remains closed just north of West Lafayette following an overnight crash around the 178 mile marker.

Indiana State Police are still on the scene of a multi-vehicle crash that occurred around midnight. The accident included at least two semis and three cars and officials say at least five people have died as a result.

There’s no estimate of when the road might reopen. Police are advising people wanting to travel south on US 231 to instead get off at exit 193, about 15 miles north of the crash location.
