2013 revenue projections in Tippecanoe Co. similar to 2012

Tippecanoe County is again facing potential cutbacks.

Auditor Jennifer Weston is projecting 2013 revenue of just over $38-million, but believes that will fall short of expenditures.

"Generally the next step would be for the council to take a look at both of those, the revenue and the expense," she said.  "They may look at cutting $800,000 to $1-million out of expenses or they may look at revenue estimates and say 'ya know, we think this one will come in  a little bit higher and this one maybe will come in a little bit lower' and they will generally tweak some things and come up with something in the middle."

The projected revenue for 2013 is similar to what the county brought in this year.

The revenue committee is currently reviewing figures.

Weston adds that the money lost from the state phasing out the inheritance tax over the next nine years likely will force the county to make additional cuts.

The County Council is scheduled to meet for budget hearings starting September 11th

A final version will be adopted in October.
