Crawfordsville Police Release Movie Shooting Video, Prosecutor Won't File Charges

courtesy City of Crawfordsville

The Crawfordsville police officer who fired a shot at an actor filming a movie in the city's downtown will not be charged with a crime.

Sgt. Matt Schroeter and another officer were called to the Backstep Brewery on September 26 when passersby called 911 to report what looked like a robbery in progress.

In reality, the brewpub was closed and was the scene of a motion picture -- one that included an armed robbery scene.

Indiana State Police were called in to investigate and Montgomery County Prosecutor Joe Buser declined to release police body camera video of the incident until analysis of it and of statements from those involved were complete.

On Monday, Buser announced no charges would be filed against Sgt. Schroeter or anyone involved with the movie.
