Purdue University and Indiana University cancelled this Saturday’s Old Oaken Bucket football game in Bloomington, citing an increase in COVID-19 numbers at both schools.

In a statement, Purdue Athletic Director Mike Bobinski and IU Athletic Director Scott Dolson said they were prioritizing the safety of student-athletes, coaches, and staff.

“We will continue to monitor the situation on both campuses and listen to the advice of our medical professionals,” they said.

Purdue cancelled practice Tuesday to “evaluate the results of recent COVID-19 testing”; IU had also cancelled its Tuesday practice

IU bested Purdue in last season’s Old Oaken Bucket match-up, defeating the Boilermakers in a double overtime game.
