YWCA Greater Lafayette program receives financial boost

The Women's Cancer Program at the YWCA Greater Lafayette is benefitting from a party.

Unity Healthcare and Franciscan Saint Elizabeth Health raised funds through last November’s Ultimate Pink Party. The YWCA received a $49,000 check Wednesday from the event.

Unity spokeswoman Michelle Kreinbrook says the fundraiser exceeded expectations, raising $15,000 more than expected. She says planning for this year's event is already underway. It's scheduled for mid-October at Ross-Ade Pavilion.

The funds go toward serving under-insured and uninsured women in Tippecanoe and 22 other counties. The program provides free screenings for breast and cervical cancers, including mammograms, Pap tests, and pelvic exams.
