Confirmed Tippecanoe County novel coronavirus cases rose to 34 Monday, and the Indiana State Department of Health reported 4,944 COVID-19 cases statewide.

ISDH also announced 139 COVID-19 deaths; that number includes 41 Marion County residents. One Tippecanoe County resident has died of the novel coronavirus.

Efforts to slow the COVID-19 outbreak continued last week, as Gov. Eric Holcomb extended a stay-at-home order for Hoosiers past today’s original expiration. The new end date is April 20.

Neighboring states have pushed out their stay-at-home stopping points even further.  Gov. J.B Pritzker extended a stay-at-home order for Illinoisans until April 30; Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine announced last week Ohio’s stay-at-home policy would run through May 1.  The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 11,256 COVID-19 cases and 274 deaths as of Sunday. The Ohio Department of Health reported 4,043 confirmed novel coronavirus cases and 119 deaths in yesterday’s update.
