Huddle gets ready to take over as LSC's superintendent

The Lafayette School Corporation is preparing to begin a new era.

Superintendent Ed Eiler led his final meeting as head of the district Monday night.

Les Huddle will take over next Monday.

The incoming superintendent says Eiler has been important in helping him in the transition.

"He's been fabulous, very open, honest, upfront; just everything you would expect," said Huddle of Eiler.  "I feel like I'm coming in to ground with some organizational history already, so I feel very comfortable and can't wait until Monday."

Huddle comes from Jacksonville, Illinois where he served as superintendent for five years.

He says changing states will be one of the most challenging parts of the transition.

"One of the biggest learning curves is some of the new initiatives that are just now taking place in the state of Indiana, the whole new teacher's evaluation system and documents and timelines," he said.  "It's going to be different no matter where you go but if there is a bright spot in this I'm coming in new just like many people already in the state of Indiana.  We are going to learn it togehter."

Eiler is stepping down after 35 years with LSC, including 16 as its top administrator.
