Truitt To Retire, Clears Path For Others

State Representative Randy Truitt (R-West Lafayette) says he will not run for reelection.

Truitt says he’s worked the past eight years serving Indiana families and businesses as the representative from Indiana House District 26, but says he wants to spend more time with his wife and three children.

All 50 state Representatives are up for election this year.

Truitt is announcing his retirement early in the campaign cycle to make way for someone else.

“I did not want a career in politics in Indianapolis, and there are many others in District 26 who may like the opportunity to serve,” he says.

His term will expire at midnight November 8, the date of Indiana's general election.

Truitt says he has focused on education and economic development in the state, including funding to preserve the Hoosier State passenger rail service between Indianapolis and Chicago.

He serves on the House ways and means, local government, and government and regulatory reform committees.
