TSC finalizing contingency plans for storm damaged schools

The Tippecanoe School Corporation is finalizing contingency plans for Southwestern Middle and Mintonye Elementary school students to continue classes beginning Monday.

The district will use space available at First Assembly Community Ministries on Beck Lane to temporarily house students in pre-kindergarten through sixth grade.

Seventh and eighth graders will be sent to Wea Ridge Middle School.

TSC Spokesperson Sue Scott says based on the damage, preliminary estimates are that Southwestern and Mintonye will be closed for six months to a year.

She says TSC officials appreciate the community support and offers to help rebuild.

Scott says at this time the buildings are considered unsafe.

She says that means for now only authorized personnel will be allowed on site.
