Silicon Valley Tech Firm Latest To Relocate To Indiana

A Silicon Valley tech company is relocating to Carmel, in what state officials are touting as a win for Indiana's business-friendly climate.

San Mateo, Calif.-based Determine uses cloud technology to help companies store and manage contract data from start to finish. Its clients include AOL, Kellogg's and Sony Music Entertainment.

In a statement, Gov. Mike Pence credits Indiana's "fiscally predictable environment" for drawing the firm away from California. His office says Determine will invest more than $700,000 in its new headquarters.

Thirty-five of the company's 160 employees already work in Carmel, after the firm merged with a competitor there in 2014. Determine plans to create another 24 jobs after it relocates and focus its U.S. growth in Indiana from here on out.

Pence's statement notes that the Indianapolis area is adding tech jobs three times faster than the national average. That includes the 800 that California-based Salesforce has promised to add in the capital city in the coming years.
