Lafayette seeking proposals for vacant lot downtown

Developers interested in a downtown Lafayette property can submit their proposals next month.

The city is looking for someone to build at 103 South 4th Street, which is the site of the former Queen Anne Courts apartment complex.

Economic Development Director Dennis Carson says the request for proposals has specific conditions, including a residential element.

“We’re rezoning it right now (to) Central Business District, so it has to fall within those parameters of that zoning category,” he says. “We’re also looking for a lot of architectural details that will reflect the downtown and the Ellsworth-Romig Neighborhood.”

The property is valued at $596,000, which is the average of two appraisals as required by law. The lot size is 0.93 acres and sits at the southeast corner of 4th and Alabama streets.

A meeting for more information is set for November 1 at Lafayette City Hall and proposals will be opened at the November 21 Redevelopment Commission meeting.
