An emergency declaration will allow the Tippecanoe School Corporation move forward quickly with clean up and damage assessment at Southwestern Middle and Mintonye Elementary schools.
The district’s Board of Trustees approved the measure yesterday.
Superintendent Scott Hanback says it will allow TSC to secure agreements with contractors without having to go through the lengthy bid process.
He says it will be six months to a year before either school is usable again.
TSC staff and administrators are finalizing plans to move pre-kindergarten through sixth graders to First Assembly Community Ministries on Beck Lane
Seventh and eight graders will be housed at Wea Ridge Middle School.
Hanback says classes are scheduled to start at the alternative locations Monday.
