Ask The Mayor: West Lafayette's John Dennis

City of West Lafayette

Some questions for the mayor this week:

You’ve been critical of Amtrak’s Hoosier State service, even as the city has helped subsidize its continued operation during the past year. This week, it was announced a private firm in Chicago, Corridor Capital, is the preferred vendor to operate the line starting in October. Is that any better, in your estimation, than Amtrak running the trains?

You and [Lafayette Mayor] Tony Roswarski last week advocated the creation of a single-entry agency which could help address homeless issues in Tippecanoe County. It this still a long way off?

There have been some questions about what happens to benefits for those same-sex couples who were married last week, as the state pursues its appeal. From the point of view of the city, let’s say the appeals process takes until the beginning of next year (which seems likely) – what are the ramifications for the city?
