Logansport Sen. Randy Head Enters Attorney General Race

A Logansport State Senator will make a bid to become the state’s next Attorney General.  He hopes to replace current AG Greg Zoeller, who is making a run for Congress and won’t seek another term.

Sen. Randy Head (R-Logansport) is wrapping up his second term in the State Senate this year and wants to move up the political ladder.

The Logansport senator spent 14 years as a deputy prosecutor and says his trial experience as well as his time in the legislature position him well to replace fellow Zoeller.

Head says his top priority in the position would be opposing what he calls federal overreach.

“People in Indiana and in the rest of the states don’t like being told what to do by the federal government,” Head says. “As the federal government expands, it takes power away from the states and that upsets a lot of people.  And the attorney general is the one person in state government that could do something about it.”

Head adds that he doesn’t want to drastically change how Zoeller has run the office.

Other Republican hopefuls include Elkhart County Prosecutor Curtis Hill and former Attorney General Steve Carter.  The State Republican Party will choose its nominee for the post at its convention later this year.
