After 7 long years of trying to make schedules align we have finally re-landed River Shook! (Formerly Sarah Shook and the Disarmers). They'll be performing as a duo for two sets at People's Brewing, Tuesday March 10th in Lafayette, IN!
Doors 5pm / Music 6pm / 21+A Mom&Pop Production
River Shook is an artist in constant evolution. After a decade spent making their mark on country music, River Shook is closing the door on their first project (Sarah Shook & the Disarmers) and entering an exciting new era, debuting as a solo artist. River’s reputation for writing galvanizing, strikingly honest lyrics, and their penchant for tapping elements of Indie rock and pop have forever cemented them as a country artist who energetically pushes the boundaries of their genre into a new frontier.River has delivered fiery fusions of country music and rock n’ roll all over the USA, Canada, and Europe, selling out headlining shows at home and abroad. Whether they’re backed by a full band or appearing as a duo, River Shook is hitting the road in 2026 with their unmistakable voice, a growing collection of brand new songs, smoking talent, and the promise of real, raw, unforgettable live shows
“Comediettes” outlines the story of three female comedians, all from different generations, as they grapple with the news that an alleged abuser is headlining their show that night. That’s where it starts! It’s funny, it’s raw, it’s a bit disturbing. The first half is the setup and the second half is the punchline.
In 2023, Acorn Players was thrilled to workshop Laser Webber’s touching and witty musical “Teaching a Robot to Love” and in 2026, alongside Director Emily Kollin, we are excited to announce auditions for our workshop of Stephanie Weber’s new and powerful dark comedy - “Comediettes.” This workshop production is an opportunity to work with the playwright as you help bring her new play to life!
Auditions will be held March 9 & 10 at First United Methodist Church:1700 Mitch Daniels Blvd, West Lafayette, from 6:30pm - 8:30pm.You only need to attend one night, but are welcome to come to both.
No preparation is needed, as actors will read selections from the script. That being said, PLEASE READ THROUGH THE MATERIALS ON OUR WEBSITE BEFORE YOU AUDITION. This show contains mature content including discussion of sexual assault using very frank language by victims, alleged perpetrators, and others; use of violent terminology and adult language; physical intimidation; and drinking and smoking. Due to the content of this play, we will not cast anyone under 21 years old. Roles are available for 3 female presenting actors and 1 male presenting actor.
