Upset in Tippecanoe County Assessor Race, Close Races For Circuit Court and Superior Court 2 Judges

In Tippecanoe County, it was an upset win in the County Assessor’s race.

Democrat Eric Grossman won 53-percent of the vote compared to 47-percent for Republican incumbent Linda Phillips.

Grossman previously worked in the Assessor's office for four years, including two under Phillips.

Barry Richard will be the new Tippecanoe County sheriff.

The Democrat came out on top with 62-percent of the vote to defeat Independent candidate Chris Schuiszi.

Current sheriff Tracy Brown will take over a new role with the county. Brown won the race for Tippecanoe County Commissioner in District 1. The Republican beat his opponent Libertarian Garrett Klein with more than 76 percent of the votes.

In County Council, District 2, it was an easy win for Republican incumbent Roland Winger, who defeated Libertarian Randy Young by a wide margin.

It was a close race for Circuit Court judge, with Democrat Tom Busch taking 51 percent of the votes and Republican Les Meade coming in with 49 percent.

Democrat Steve Meyer will take over for Busch as the Superior Court 2 judge. Meyer edged out his Republican opponent Rebecca Trent with 52 percent of the votes compared to her 48 percent.
