Wabash Valley Astronomical Society Open Meeting and Annual Telescope Fair, November 1 2025Open Meeting 7:00-7:45pm, Telescope Fair 8:00-10:00pmJoin us for our annual Telescope Fair at the West Lafayette Observatory, 600 Cumberland, West Lafayette, IN. Instead of our regular open house, we will have a special presentation tailored to people considering purchasing a telescope. We won't be selling telescopes, but we will talk about factors to consider when shopping and will have various types of scopes on display. Before that, our open meeting includes astronomy news, new toys, and a brief presentation, "Astronomical Superstitions, Scams and Pseudoscience". You don't have to be a member to attend, but we encourage you to consider joining if you haven't already to help support our year-round outreach activities bringing the wonders of astronomy to students and the general public. Audrey Johnson is a classically trained mezzo-soprano who’s turned opera into a powerful storytelling tool for American history. She’s the founder of Of Thee I Sing: American Heritage Through Song, a touring company that blends historical songs, costumes, spoken narratives, and audience participation to bring U.S. history to life. These are not typical classical recitals! Audrey curates, writes, arranges and performs these one-of-a-kind, one-woman shows.
